FDP on IoT and its applications

A 1-week (Online) Faculty Development Programme on the topic, "IoT and its applications on Instrumentation" had been organised by the Electronics and ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati, Assam in association with the Department of Instrumentation and USIC, Gauhati University, and support from Uniconverge Technologies Pvt. Ltd from 21–26 March, 2022.

The programme was attended by faculty members and PhD research scholars from different universities and colleges.

The Faculty Development Programme was an initiative of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Mr. Kaushlendra Singh Sisodia (Director) and Mr. Jitesh Kumar (Sr. IoT Engineer) of Uniconverge Technologies Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, were the resource person of the programme. In the duration of the programme, participants were introduced to the concept of IoT, Arduino along with extensive knowledge about IoT Networking, IoT protocols, IoT cloud platform, IoT Security, IoT development board, IoT sensors and actuators, Machine Learning and use of Machine learning for IoT and Embedded devices.

The activities of the programme included Instrumentation and IoT applications, Instrumentation and IoT solution providers, IoT architecture, and IoT and industrial protocols with co-existence. It also included Cloud Architecture, Vibration Monitoring Solutions and Edge Computing/AI. On successful completion of the program, the participants had a diligent and adequate understanding of Industrial IoT, Instrumentation and Connectivity, Need and Integration of IoT with Legacy systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS, and OPC-UA), Internet of Things in Process Instrumentation and Automation, Machine Health Monitoring, Cloud management and Data Analytics.


The course coordinators from the academy included Prof. Ratnajit Bhattacharjee, Principal Investigator, E&ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati, and Dr. Gaurav Trivedi, Co-Principal Investigator, E&ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati. The coordination committee from Gauhati University included Dr. Utpal Sarma, Head of the Department, Department of Instrumentation and USIC and Dr.Pranjal Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Instrumentation and USIC.
