A workshop on "Opportunities for Research and Innovation using the DST-Sponsored Facilities of Gauhati University" was organized by the Department of Instrumentation and USIC from 14th February to 23rd February 2022, in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The workshop was conducted with the objective of providing an opportunity to learn and refresh knowledge about the DST-sponsored facilities such as Powder XRD with SAXS attachment, SCXRD, XRF, NMR, UV-Vis-NIR Spectrometer, DSC, and TGA, and incorporate these knowledge and SAIF facilities in their research activities. The event was inaugurated by a technical lecture provided by Prof Aaron Lewis, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Participants The programme was successfully carried out with a total of 48 participants from various institutions, including Alipurduar University, Arya Vidyapeeth College, B.Borooah College, Behali Degree College, Bhattadev University, Bodoland University, Central Institute Of Technology Kokrajhar, Centre of Plasma Physics-IPR, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, Cotton University, Dibrugarh University, G.L. Choudhury College, Handique Girls College, Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat Institute of Science And Technology, M C College, National Institute Of Technology Silchar, Rangapara College, T.S Paul Manipur Women College, Science College, Kokrajhar, Tihu College and Gauhati University. Researchers and faculty members with backgrounds in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Life Sciences, and Bioengineering were among the participants. The DST-sponsored facilities at Gauhati University were showcased during the training programme. Lectures on the fundamental theory and operation, instrumentation, applications and hands-on demonstration of each instrument were covered. At the end of the workshop, each participant was given the facility of free analysis of one sample in any of the instruments of choice of the participant.
