Department of Instrumentation & USIC, Gauhati University has organised a workshop on Industrial Automation on 12 June 2019 at B. Borooah College, Guwahati

The primary motive of the workshop was to inspire passion for technological innovation and development of skills for Industrial Automation. It was a part of the skill development and outreach programme of Gauhati University. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Physics of the College and altogether 26 students of various departments of the Institution participated in it.

Mr. Sumanta Borthakur, HoD of Physics took the initiative to hold the workshop and Dr. Satyen Barman, Principal of the college, wholeheartedly supported it.

Gauhati University has launched a unique Mobile Skill Development Vehicle for Industrial Automation. The vehicle is integrated with all modern components of industrial automation like PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI Controllers etc. These systems are primarily used in leading industrial sectors like Refining and Petrochemical industry, Paper industry, Cement manufacturing etc. The motive of this unique initiative is to develop the working skills of the undergraduate students of different colleges on the modern industrial automation and to give the participants an exposure to the latest technology being used in various industries.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Manash Protim Goswami, Assistant Professor (Gauhati University) and he was assisted by Mr. Nairit Barkataki and Mr. Arnob Doloi.
