The Seventh School on System Design Using Microcontroller was organised by the Department of Instrumentation & USIC, Gauhati University from 18 – 23 February 2019. The necessities of the knowledge on Microprocessor and Microcontroller and their role in Embedded System have become essential for the students of Instrumentation, Physics, Electronics, and Computer Science. This school helped and motivated the students in this field. The objectives of this workshop were familiarise with working of microprocessor and microcontroller, writing code for microcontroller in C and programming a microcontroller, exposure to the concept of Embedded System, and design and fabrication of signal conditioning circuits for sensing and data acquisition. The target group for the workshop was the fifth semester appeared students of TDC with major in Physics, Electronics and Computer Science, end semester post graduate students and research scholars. Participants Twenty (20) students participated in the school from seven different schools viz. Dakshin Kamrup College, Digboi College, Lalit Chandra Bharali College, Kohima Science College, Jagannath Barooah College, Pragjyotish College, Darrang College Technical lectures of the workshop were provided by: Prof. Utpal Sarma, Head, Instrumentation & USIC Dr. Debashis Saikia, Asst. Professor, Instrumentation & USIC Mr. Nairit Barkataki, Asst. Professor, Instrumentation & USIC Mr. Siddhartha Devnath, Scientist-C, ASTEC Mr. Surath Kalita, Dr. Kunajalata Kalita, Dr. Manash Protim Goswami, Dr. Babak Montazer, Sudipta Hazarika, Rajdeep Choudhury, Chayanika Sharma, Arnob Doloi and Tushadri Baruah tutored the students in the various scientific experiments during the workshop. The course covered the topics such as architecture of microprocessor & Microcontroller, concept of Data Acquisition System, idea of Signal Conditioning and Project work on Microcontroller based Data Acquisition System from basic level. The entire event was co-ordinated by Dr. Debashis Saikia. The workshop was financially sponsored by Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC). News Prev
